On 8th and 9th January 2013, Arsalan M. Kashfi, 2012 ELP fellow, attended the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) conference in Islamabad on behalf of his organization, the AJK Rural Support Programme (AJKRSP). The conference, a two-day national level review workshop, brought together WFP’s partners in the livelihood and disaster risk reduction (DRR) interventions who collaborated with WFP in Pakistan in the year 2012. The provided forum sought to share experiences with the aim of learning, improving response, and ensuring accountability in project implementation. Important suggestions and recommendations were documented for better planning and implementation in future.
Kashfi represented AJKRSP at this significant forum after managing and coordinating three WFP funded projects on DRR, General Food Distribution, and Food for Work from the platform of his organization. The total cost of the implemented projects was more than PKR 20 million, from which 14,000 flood affected households benefitted from free food distribution, and several publications were prepared and published—including booklets for students and teachers on DRR. Additionally, over 11,000 households took part at the grassroots level in the rehabilitation of damaged physical infrastructures.
Congratulations to Mr. Kashfi on the continued development work in Pakistan. We hope this collaboration will only improve your methods, implementation, and reach.
