Mahnoor Ijaz Rathore

Biography

A human rights lawyer from Lahore, Mahnoor is an Executive Team member of Chayn, an open-source project that leverages technology to empower women against violence and oppression. The majority of Mahnoor’s work focuses on the empowerment of women, gender equality, women’s rights, education for girls, counselling, pro-bono teaching, and education. As of 2015, Mahnoor is developing an innovative education project for Syrian Refugees at WISE Learner’s Voice Program (Qatar Foundation) and serves as a 2015-16 fellow. Mahnoor has also been selected as a fellow for the highly-competitive Asia Foundation Development Fellows Program for the 2016. She has actively volunteered and worked with both community and government-based NGOS on a range of issues including gender equality, right to fair trial, disability, education and women’s rights. Mahnoor received her Bachelor of Law (LL.B Hons) from University of London. She has been invited to and participated in several international events, including World Innovation Summit for Education (2015), Seeds of Peace Conference on Advancement of Role of Women – New York University – Abu Dhabi (2015) and at the International Criminal Law Seminar (2014) organized by United Nations Inter-regional Crime and Research Institute (UNICRI). Mahnoor loves photography, museums, and writing.
