Rafia Farooqui

Rafia Farooqui is a social activist and aspiring water expert in Pakistan. A business graduate, Rafia has worked in several capacities to address social issues pertaining to environment, education, and youth development. She currently works to highlight the importance of water conservation, and plans to implement ideas that will help achieve the optimum usage of existing water and infrastructure in Pakistan. She recently conducted an extensive water study that sought to identify the water challenges in the country and provided recommendations for addressing these problems. According to analysts, Pakistan lacks skilled water experts and remains underrepresented in international water forums, including bilateral talks with India on the Indus Water Treaty. She intends to fill this gap by establishing herself as an expert on such platforms, and work towards not only creating awareness but also executing actionable ideas to prevent Pakistan from becoming more water-scarce.
