Saqib Tanveer

Saqib is a broadcast journalist currently working with Pakistan’s largest news channel, Geo News. He is heading the research team of Pakistan’s most watched weekend show, Naya Pakistan with Talat Hussain. As a senior researcher, beyond producing news shows and documentaries, Saqib sets the agenda for news shows and pinpoints important stories and threats to society. He recently launched his own startup company called Simplified, which is a video portal focusing on issues ranging from politics to sport. His previous work includes documentaries on the Army Public School massacre, the Tharparkar desert, and special reports on the education and health system of Pakistan.  Prior to joining Geo News, Saqib was a Young Development Fellow with the Government of Pakistan’s Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform, where he was a founding member of the Peace and Development Unit to counter extremism. He is currently striving to highlight the issues of marginalized segments of society that are usually neglected by mainstream media. With Geo’s large audience in Pakistan, Saqib senses a responsibility to help shape public opinion and counter negative and violent ideologies.
